WELL!!!

This has been such an eventful year for Discover Vintage - we can't believe how fast it has gone! We even introduced the Vintage Home Show, our brand new event, to the world this year and my-oh-my what a success it has been! People are seriously loving their Homes and we don't blame them - your home does deserve to look spectacular too you know!

We recently had the Vintage Home Show in Manchester and would love to share some snaps with you - it makes us even more excited for our Birmingham one this weekend (Sunday 18th)!

The Beauty of Vintage Dresses...

Ahhh vintage dresses, you just can't beat them! The swishing fabric, the prints, the colour, the charm...

How could anybody possibly resist?

For the savvy shopper, vintage dresses have now become a wardrobe essential and with various methods of buying these precious gems cropping up, it is just so easy to find the dress of your dreams - one, I might add, that nobody else will own!

The need for fashion uniqueness and personal expression is now more in demand than ever before. The question of 'Will I see anybody else in this?' is now just as much a deciding factor when making a purchase as questions on fit, quality and price. As a result, oodles of women now turn to good old vintage dresses for the ultimate fashion fix and we really can't blame them!

Vintage dresses (and generally most vintage clothing) can fulfil this desire, this absolute need for one-of-a-kind pieces - something the high street, despite churning out various copies, can ever truly achieve and it is now easier than ever before! Discover Vintage is back at YORK BARBICAN!

Sunday the 9th September is the date you MUST SAVE if you want to have the most incredible vintage-loving experience in Yorkshire!

Once again we will be bringing together the best vintage home & fashion exhibitors around so expect to see loads of wonderful 1930s, 1940s, 1950s & 1960s clothing, accessories, homeware, textiles and furniture! With over 60 exhibitors of Vintage, Entertainment and Workshops you will not be disappointed!

Picture this....stunning displays as far as the eyes can see, vintage gems in every corner, hair and beauty parlours transforming you into your favourite vintage icons, the sound of gasps as unique vintage pieces are being discovered (or should we say rediscovered?!)....sounds like heaven, right?

Well then, allow us to take you back in time, conjuring up memories and inspiration all day long! We just LOVE doing this event, the atmosphere is always so upbeat, friendly and vibrant and there will be plenty of vintage experts on hand to assist you!

What more could you ask for? Ahhh well, we do aim to please!

Great news everyone!!!!

The Vintage Home Show is going to be in Birmingham!

Oh yesss, Sunday 18th November will not know what hit it!

Gathering at Fazeley Studios, 191 Fazeley Street, Digbeth, Birmingham will be all the best Mid-Century furniture, homeware, ceramics, glass and textile sellers around!

We are excited that The Vintage Home Show has been a success and are looking forward to all of our other VHS' in London and Manchester too!

The Vintage Home Show Manchester!

THE VINTAGE HOME SHOW IS BACK and in MANCHESTER on 10th June!

We are so excited!!

There will be plenty of vintage dealers there (over 40!!) selling furniture, lighting, art, glass, ceramics, textiles and SO MUCH MORE!!!

Hunting for a particular item or just wanting to get some inspiration for your home? Come on over and check it out- you will be in good company!

We are specializing in the 1930s to the 1970s so it is guaranteed you will find something to suit your own personal taste as we take you on a journey back in time. We will be presenting you with the best of the best Mid Century furniture, Mass Market Retro and Kitsch.

Be prepared for a colour explosion! You will find so many things that bring back memories and transport you to a place full of fun, energy and splendor... Leopard print chairs anyone?!!

Following the success of our London Vintage Home Show, we are thrilled to be bringing our second one to Manchester! You will find us at Victoria Baths, Hathersage Road, Manchester, M13 0FE on 10th June. Doors are open from 11am-4pm (Trade 10.30am) with a bargain entry fee of just £3 (trade £5)!

Excited much? We are!!! Catch up with our antics at the London Home Show for a little teaser - it was our first ever one!

20th Century Collector - make sure you also check out their furniture, homewares, soft furnishings and ark work!

Catch up with our FOV antics!

After a fabulous weekend at The Festival of Vintage, everyone at Discover Vintage is enjoying browsing through photos, sharing stories of various encounters and missing it already!

Ohhh all the hard work really did pay off - what a joy it was to see our visitors all dressed up (we have to say that there were some AMAZING outfits milling round!) Picking winners of our Best Dressed Competition was a nightmare - far too many to choose from! We were in awe at the level of attention to detail paid!

Despite the weather being typically British, the turn out was spectacular! The vibe was energetic and fun with everybody getting involved, dancing, shopping, taking workshops - we couldn't be happier!

Our exhibitors were as fab as ever and we would just like to say a HUGEEE thank you to all those involved with the event! We cannot wait to do it all over again at Epsom Racecourse on 23rd September - watch this space for more info! In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy our snaps....

The Festival of Vintage is coming!

Discover Vintage is buzzing with anticipation and excitement as The Festival of Vintage returns to York Racecourse at the end of the month (28th & 29th April)!

We have sooo many wonderful things planned for you - be prepared for the time of your life folks!

Let me talk you through a few areas...

The UK Home front

Learn all about the Home front in WW2 with wonderful interactive talks and displays from Bombed out Washday who will be exhibiting and talking through the work of the National Emergency Washing Service as well as the Womens Timber Corp who will be there doing a short talk and display on the life and equipment used by the girls of the Timber Corp - not to be missed!

Make Do And Mend

We have a great selection of workshops available on both days, where you can learn a new craft - who wants to have a go at up cycling unwanted vintage items? We do! Trust us when we say that you will be amazed - this is a very clever skill to have! Workshops include making fascinators, paper crafts and ribbon flower brooches PLUS fab demonstrations from Craft Experts on upcyling cushions, suitcases & hat boxes as well the more traditional skill of Rag Rug making! Here's who to look out for: Coolcrafting, Lucy's Boutique Barnsley & Piperty.

Vintage Cinema

Film Fun will be showcasing their brilliant collection of quirky new items, public information films and 8mm movies - these treasures add the perfect dash of visual context to the event and are bound to fill you with national pride!

So....who is up for a bit of dancing? As an important part of our weekend, we are offering you the chance to learn various vintage dances (all included as part of your ticket) including...

The 1940s Jive, Triple Time Lindy Hop, Lindy Charleston, Shim Sham, Jitterbug Stroll, Balboa & Collegiate Shag - whether you are a beginner or experienced dancer there will be plenty of new moves to learn! Look out for GI Jive who will be offering lessons in the Nostalgia Hall Stand throughout Saturday & Sunday.

Fashion & Beauty

Ohh my-oh-myyy what treasures we have waiting for you......

To get you all in the vintage mood make sure you pay a visit to the super talented Bethany Davies at The Vintage Beauty Parlour where Bethany and her team will give you a hair & beauty make over - vintage style of course! Pick an era and watch the transformation begin! You can book an appointment in advance - all you have to do is follow the link provided.

Then make sure you also stop off to meet Naomi Thompson for a bit of vintage styling advice - she will share with you all the tricks of the trade to get you looking like the vintage siren we all know is just bursting to pop out!

Also not to be missed is the Festival of Vintage Fashion Show (running three times each day). Hosted by Vintage Emporium in association with Glory Days Vintage & Purple Haze - a real treat for the eyes we must say! Watch as they take you back to the 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s! Awww we are just so proud of our Vintage Home Show! We had our very first one at the weekend and my-oh-my what a success it was!!! I think it is safe to say we are beaming with pride right now and would just LOVE to share with you some of our snaps!!
